Easy Creme Brulee

Easy Creme Brulee

This classic creme brulee dessert never gets old.  Very easy recipe to make, yet always a crowd pleaser.  Best if made using a quality culinary torch.

Ingredients

  • 6 glass ramekins
  • 8 large eggs, yolks only
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup of white sugar (for caramelized topping)
  • Choice fruit for garnish (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar thoroughly.
  3. Afterwards, add heavy cream and vanilla extract and whisk until well blended.
  4. Evenly pour mixture into each ramekin.
  5. Place ramekins in water bath (water-filled pan), and bake in oven until set around edges, but still soft in middle (approximately 45-60 minutes).
  6. Remove from oven and let stand until cooled.
  7. Take cups from water bath and chill in refrigerator for 1-2 hours (or overnight).
  8. When ready to serve, evenly sprinkle about 2 teaspoons of sugar on top of each custard. Use your hand-held culinary torch to melt sugar topping until lightly browned.
  9. Re-chill custards in refrigerator for a few minutes. Then, serve and enjoy this Easy Creme Brulee recipe!

I like creme brulee. Although, I have never made it I do intend to make this recipe soon. Gotta get me one of those nifty torches. The torch I currently have is a lot larger and has some solder drippings on it from household plumbing projects..Don’t want any solder drips in the creme brulee, that’s for sure!

No solder drippings on the Creme Brulee! You should buy a culinary torch. They’re fun and easy to use.

I am totally looking forward to fnally being able to make and eat this dish. I still didn’t purchase one of those culinary torches but it’s on my “to buy” list of kitchen gadgets and gizmos. I’ll just have to make do using my flamethrower instead. I’ll report out by Monday.

I stumbled upon your website after searching for variations on a raspberry sauce for ice cream with some extra summer fruit I had on hand (berries and peaches which turned out brilliantly with your simple recipe …which was a lot simpler and more flavorful than the ones I had tried from my usual sources – The fruit remains the star. Thank you for sharing. I am checking out your other recipes as well.
