How To Clean and Debeard MusselsIt is very essential that you properly clean and debeard mussels prior to cooking them. Most importantly, you must make sure that the mussel is still alive before cleaning. Tap any opened mussels to see if they close their shell. If they don’t close, toss them in the trash! If they do close, they’re still alive and ready to clean and cook.
